First pages from Brennevinsgrova won gold at the World Cider Awards

Before the summer, Harald sent his very first ciders out of the country to be judged in the World Cider Awards. Now NØVA No. 1 is back with a gold medal in his bag.

First pages from Brennevinsgrova won gold at the World Cider Awards

In May, NØVA No. 1 hit the market, a fresh and sparkling apple cider made from Aroma and Gravenstein apples. Since its launch, the cider has received much praise from those who have tasted it. But good feedback from celebrities wasn't enough for Harald. He wanted to know how NØVA would hold its own against professional cider tasters from home and abroad.

Therefore, bottles were sent to England and the World Cider Awards, an international competition that selects the best ciders within different cider styles. NØVA no. 1 was judged in the category "Sparkling Cider -Carbonated Traditional", and the result could hardly have been better: gold medal and Style Winner for the category in Norway.

"It's extra great to have the quality confirmed already on the first page we've launched."
First pages and first medal

The gold means a little extra to Brennevinsgrova . NØVA no. 1 is the first page launched from Brennevinsgrova , and thus the first to take home a medal from an international cider competition. For Harald, this is an important step in his commitment to cider. What started with the first apple trees and the development of NØVA is now becoming a larger cider project.

And it doesn't stop with NØVA No. 1.

More apples, more cider

The family farm has already planted 1,841 apple trees, and next year another 1,000 trees may be planted. The goal is to build up its own apple production that can provide raw materials for several sides in the years to come.

NØVA no. 2 is already on the market in some places and is made with a combination of Gravenstein, Aroma and Åkerø, which makes it drier than its predecessor. NØVA no. 3 will be released in the fall, which is made with Asfari apples. The new ciders will also be tested in the World Cider Awards.

"The gold gave us validation that we can make top-class ciders – not just gold-winning spirits from the distillery. Now we will work hard to continue developing products that maintain the same quality, while at the same time creating our own NØVA taste and history. Everything we do must have roots in Sunnmøre"

With the gold medal from England, the first side from Brennevinsgrova has had a solid start. Now it will be exciting to follow the path forward, from apple trees in Sykkylven to more ciders on the market and new international competitions. Maybe more medals will come home. Brennevinsgrova .
